History of the Firm

John T. Iacopi started the firm in May of 1978. It was then known as Iacopi and Fox. In June of 1980, he became the sole owner of the firm. Susan Lenz was admitted to the practice in 1982 and the firm of Iacopi & Lenz was formed.

On January 1, 2001, Iacopi, Lenz & Company proudly announced that Michael S. Butler and Michael D. Luis attained the position of Principal of the firm.

Iacopi, Lenz & Company is an accountancy corporation engaged in all areas of general practice accounting and tax work. Since its inception in 1978, the firm has experienced steady growth.

Members of our firm are involved in diverse professional and community activities. They have served as presidents of professional and charitable organizations, chaired various committees of professional organizations. Our accountants have written articles for a variety of accounting publications and are frequently speakers at professional seminars and other forums. Our staff is also involved in numerous organizations in support of our community.

Our goal is to provide the highest quality professional services to our clients in a prompt and timely manner, flood our clients with service via prompt turnaround processing time offered at competitive, fair rates. We strive to offer consistently creative and innovative services which provide value to our clients. We deliver prompt and courteous services and pride ourselves with the fact that we are available to our clients seven days a week to assist them with their ongoing needs.

JOHN T. IACOPI, born Los Banos, California. He is a graduate of Armstrong University, 1972, with Magna Cum Laude Honors. He holds the following credentials:

His area of emphasis consists of business appraisals/valuation, litigation support services, marital dissolution accounting, business Buy/Sell Agreement reviews and forensic accounting, exit planning, mergers and acquisitions of businesses and business counseling. In addition, Mr. Iacopi also provides all phases of corporate and individual tax planning and preparation, crisis management and general management advisory services (including business sales and purchases), financial planning, business settlements and strategic planning.

Mr. Iacopi is a member of American Institute of Certified Public Accountants; California Society of Certified Public Accountants, Institute of Certified Business Counselors, Institute of Business Appraisers, National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts.

He has been published in Economou vs. Economou, 223 C.A.3d 76, 91 (August 1990); Journal of Accountancy, May 1994; and Practical Accountant, November, 1993. Mr. Iacopi has self published three books. Hobbies of Mr. Iacopi include art and book collecting and outdoor sports.

Susan H. Lenz, CPA
Shareholder/Principal

SUSAN HENDERSON LENZ, born Stockton, California, licensed as a CPA in September, 1982. She has been a principal in the firm of IACOPI, LENZ & COMPANY since November, 1982. Education: San Joaquin Delta College (with Honors), (A.A., 1975), Humphrey's College (with Honors), (B.S., 1978).

Ms. Lenz is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and California Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Susan's professional experience includes business consulting, tax and business planning, business valuation services, management advisory services, estate planning and all phases of business accounting and financial statement preparation. She has extensive experience in representing taxpayers before the IRS and in accounting for the transactions and estate tax return preparation of complex estates.

The clients she serves represent a wide variety of industries, including medical professionals, retail and wholesale organizations, agriculture, construction and other professionals.

Her commitment to the community include serving donating her time toward charitable organizations and educational endeavors.

Michael S. Butler, CPA
Principal

MICHAEL S. BUTLER, born in Yuba City, California, licensed as a CPA on July 25, 1980. Education: Golden Gate University, (Master of Business Administration in Taxation, 1985; California State University, Chico, B.A., 1977). Mike joined the firm in 1980. He has also served as Chief Financial Officer of a real estate development company. Mike's areas of emphasis are all areas of taxation and planning for small businesses, professionals, individuals, non-profits, and estate and gift taxation. Member of the Stockton Golf and Country Club.

Michael D. Luis, CPA
Principal

MICHAEL D. LUIS, born in Modesto, California, licensed as a CPA on November 30, 1979. Education: Golden Gate University (Masters in Taxation, 1983); California State University, Stanislaus (Cum Laude honors) (B.A., Concentration in Accounting, 1977).

Mike is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and California Society of Certified Public Accountants. He joined the firm in 1991 bringing with him over fourteen years of national CPA firm experience. He possesses a strong background in tax planning, preparation and consulting for individuals and businesses; estate, gift and business planning; and financial analysis.

Mike has been a part-time instructor of accounting and taxation classes at California State University, Stanislaus, as well as a lecturer to various business organizations.

Mike's community involvement includes Stockton Delta Rotary (past President); Miss San Joaquin County Scholarship Program (Treasurer/Director); Stockton's 49er Council of Boy Scouts of America (past Treasurer); and Stockton Youth Leadership Organization (past member of Steering Committee).

Senior Manager

JAMES J. ACOSTA, born Stockton, California, licensed as a CPA on January 28, 1983. Education: Golden Gate University, (Master of Business Administration in Taxation, 1985); University of Santa Clara (B.A., 1980).

Jim is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants. He joined the firm in 1987 and serves the firm as a Senior Manager.

Jim's practice emphasizes income tax planning and preparation for individuals, partnerships, corporations, estates and trusts, and also offers business consulting and financial statement preparation.

Community involvement includes St. Joseph’s Foundation (Chairman), St. Mary’s High School Foundation (Trustee), Annunciation School Advisory Council (President), Ed Sprague’s Gold Medal Inc (Treasurer), Hoover Tyler Little League (Treasurer), and Seeds to the World (Board member).

Paula M. Frago, CPA
Senior Manager

PAULA M. FRAGO, born in Merced, California, licensed as a CPA on June 8, 1984. Education: California State University, Stanislaus (Summa Cum Laude honors) (B.A., 1982).

Paula serves as a senior manager. She joined the firm in August, 1984, bringing with her seven years of public accounting experience with a local CPA firm in Turlock. Her practice emphasizes corporation, partnership, individual, fiduciary, estate and gift tax planning and preparation services. She offers business accounting and consulting services as well as computer consulting. She has served a variety of business enterprises, including: real estate developers, construction contractors, farmers, professionals, manufacturers and restaurants. She has a broad range of experience with business and individuals related to all phases of financial services.

Paula is a member of American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants. Locally, she is a member of Stockton Women's Network.

Community involvement includes serving on the Board of Directors for various organizations. She was recently appointed to the Oak Valley Community Bank Business Advisory Board. She also serves as Treasurer for the Stockton Public Schools Foundation, Quail Lakes Neighborhood Association and Stagg High School Athletic Booster Club. She has previously served as a committee member of Stockton Unified School District's citizen's oversite committee for bond spending, President of the Central Valley Council of Camp Fire Boys and Girls, founder and President of the Hazelton A.C.T. Team Booster Club, Treasurer of John Tyler School PTA, and Parent Representative for the Quail Lakes Swim Team.

TAMI K. HORITA LOUIE, born Stockton, California, licensed as a CPA on January 27, 1984. Education: San Diego State University (B.S., 1979). She also holds a credential as a Certified Financial Planner™ licensee.

Tami is a member of American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants. She joined the firm in 1990 and focuses on all phases of tax planning, tax preparation, business accounting, financial statement preparation and audits of qualified retirement plans.

Constance D. Logan, CPA, JD
Senior Tax Manager

CONSTANCE D. LOGAN, born Stockton, California, licensed as a CPA July 31, 1981; licensed as an Attorney November 16, 2005. Education: California State University, Chico (B.A. 1969); Golden Gate University (M.S. Tax 1986); University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law (J.D. 2004).

Constance joined the firm in 1988 after working as an IRS Agent and in private practice. In 2005, she took a sabbatical from the firm and worked as a Law Clerk for a Judge on the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Her practice covers all aspects of taxation but emphasizes partnerships, S Corporations, estate and gift planning, tax exempt organizations, and representation before the IRS and California tax authorities. She also participates in Collaborative Divorce as a Financial Specialist.

Kathleen M. Solari, CPA

KATHLEEN M. SOLARI, born Stockton, California, licensed as a CPA on October 7, 1988. Education: California State University Stanislaus, (B.A. 1985).

Kathleen is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and California Society of Certified Public Accountants. She joined the firm in 1985 and serves as a Senior Accountant. Her practice emphasis is on business accounting/consulting and estate planning in addition to tax return preparation for individuals, partnership, corporations, estates and trusts. Kathleen also holds an Estate Planning Certificate from the California CPA Education Foundation.

Kathleen is a past recipient of the “Susan B. Anthony Women of Achievement Award for Community Service”. Her community service includes holding President and/or financial board positions with Lincoln Council Parent Teacher Association, Brookside School PTA, Stockton Chapter of Omega Nu, American Association of University Women and committees of The Haggin Museum. In addition to being a former Trustee on The Haggin Museum board, her other community involvement includes Special Events for Stockton Women's Network, American Diabetes Association, Junior Achievement, United Cerebral Palsy and American Heart Association.

JAMES H. LaFOREST, born in Ventura, California, licensed as a CPA in both California and Nevada. Education: University of Nevada, Las Vegas (B.S. 1991).

James is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the California Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts.

James began his career in Nevada where he was a Senior Manager with a large regional firm specializing in auditing and review services for small to large businesses and local governments. After seven years experience, he joined our firm in 1998.

His area of emphasis consists of audit and review services, business valuation, litigation support services, marital dissolution, due diligence and forensic accounting. James also provides both individual and business tax services. James is a Senior Valuation Associate and serves on the firm's Quality Control Team and as the compliance reviewer for firm financial statement services.

REVO SOMERSILLE, born in Brooklyn, New York, licensed as a CPA on January 31, 1998. Education: Montana State University (B.S. 1994).

Revo joined the firm in 1998 after three years in Nevada where he was a Senior Accountant with a large regional firm specializing in auditing services for small to large businesses, non-profit organizations and local governments.
